Ten New RAMSAR Sites of India

India added 10 more wetlands designated as Ramsar sites. These sites include six sites in Tamil Nadu, one each in Goa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha.

As there were 54 Ramsar sites earlier in India, by adding these sites, the total number of Ramsar sites in India increased to 64 covering an area of 12,50,361 ha in the country.

Designation of these sites would help in the conservation and management of the wetlands and wise use of their resources.
