local winds blow over a limited area. They are caused due to influence of local pressure gradient and terrain. The local winds blow between small, low, and high-pressure systems. These winds are influenced by local geographical conditions like distance from the ocean, lake, or mountain range, all these factors affect local winds.

Bora Adriatic Coast

(A body of water separating the Italian Peninsula from the Balkans)

These are Cold, Gusty, North-easterly from eastern Europe to north-eastern Italy and north-western Balkans. The wind blows in gusts. The bora is most common during the winter.

Blizzard Tundra region

Cold Wind, A blizzard is a severe snowstorm characterized by strong sustained winds of at least 56 km/h (35 mph) which lasts for a prolonged time.

Mistral From central France and the Alps to the Mediterranean is a strong, cold, north-westerly wind
Norther Texas, Gulf of Mexico to W. Caribbean

These are cold, strong, northerly winds.

Pampero The Pampas of South America Cold winds.
Levanter Spain

Cold wind- north-easterly winds of long fetch, as opposed to diurnal coastal breezes. These gales are most frequent and dangerous in spring and autumn

Etesian Eastern Mediterranean

These cool, dry north-easterly wind. It is associated with a regional low-pressure system.

The wind is hot, dry sandy, south-easterly. blows regularly at 50 days’ period. The wind affects Egypt and the Levant; similar winds, blowing in other parts of North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and the entire Mediterranean basin.

It is a warm and dry wind.

Elephanta Malabar Coast of India

Moist wind, strong southerly or south-easterly wind of India blows during the months of September and October and marks the onset of the southwest monsoon

The Loo is a strong, dusty, gusty, hot, and dry summer wind from the west which blows over the western Indo-Gangetic Plain region of North India and Pakistan.

The Calima is a hot, dust and sand-laden dry wind South to southeasterly.

Sirocco, or jugo From the Sahara to the Mediterranean sea

It is Hot, Moist wind. sirocco is a Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara and can reach hurricane speeds in North Africa and Southern Europe

Solano Sahara to Iberian peninsula

The Solano is a hot, moist wind. It is an easterly to southeasterly wind.
